A GC graduating senior is recovering from surgery after she was struck by a car on West Montgomery Street, said Darren Berkner, the father of Baylee Berkner, a senior psychology major.
“She was airlifted from Milledgeville and she was in a lot of pain,” Darren Berkner said.
The surgery, which included putting two titanium rods in both legs, targeted injuries that Baylee Berkner sustained when a car struck her Sunday night on West Montgomery Street.
Baylee was parked near the library for a group project. She plans to graduate on Dec. 14.
“She’s in great spirits,” her father said. “She is planning on starting rehab tomorrow [Tuesday].”
According to WMAZ, a car sideswiped Baylee Berkner while she was standing by her car. WMAZ cited a Georgia State Patrol report claiming that the driver was an 18-year-old McDonough native.
